Your odds come from real estimated population counts. Drawn at true proportions, almost everyone would be a copepod or an ant, so the game first draws a population band, then a species inside it. Tiny creatures like copepods, krill, mosquitoes, ants and honeybees come up less often than others in their band (about a third as often), and species not yet in your dex are 4 times more likely than ones you've met.

Population and lifespan figures are rough estimates from public sources and vary a lot by survey and organization. Conservation status follows the IUCN Red List.

Population counts come from the IUCN Red List and published estimates; livestock numbers and farming practices from FAO statistics and public sources. Surveys disagree a lot and some figures are rough. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we'll fix it.

Death shows up the way it does in nature and on farms — being eaten, illness, slaughter — told plainly. Recommended for ages 15 and up.

Your records are saved in this browser. If you make a continue code, only your dex (species met and lives lived) is stored on our server with that code. To improve the game we collect anonymous usage stats (how many rounds, whether you shared) with PostHog — never names or contact info. Feedback sends only what you write and details of the life you just lived.
